Hello! I’m Miriam Hughes and I’m part of the Specialists of Tomorrow Scheme. I started my role in January 2018 and will continue until January 2020.
I am a Procurement Specialists Trainee and during the Scheme I will be working in four different pla
cements in the procurement service in Gwynedd Council – the Procurement Unit, and the three Category Teams – People, Environment and Corporate.
Procurement affects every service within Gwynedd Council as every department is dependent on a range of different suppliers, providers and agencies that supply products, services and works – whether it be roadworks, care services or stationery for the office. I will therefore be visiting some of the Council’s services such as front-line services in order to gain a better understanding of the services that we procure for.
During the Scheme I will also be completing the CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) qualification working my way to complete MCIPS status.
In these blogs I will be documenting some of my experiences as a trainee with Gwynedd Council. I hope you enjoy!
